ABOUT charlotte de belle
French-born artist Charlotte de Belle, now based in the vibrant city of Dubai, is a trailblazer in the realm of contemporary visual art. Growing up surrounded by the cultural richness of France, she embarked on a journey that led her to traverse between the United Arab Emirates and the United States, ultimately finding her artistic home in Dubai in 2009.
Charlotte's artistic exploration knows no bounds, and her creative odyssey is marked by a deep affinity for mixed media. With an unyielding passion for experimenting with new materials, she orchestrates her artistic symphony with a central theme – neon light. The pulsating vibrancy of neon is the beating heart of her creations, adding a 21st-century allure to this timeless medium.
Having honed her craft under the tutelage of neon tube pioneer David Ablon in New York, Charlotte brings a unique perspective to her art. Her neon sculptures transcend the conventional perception of neon as cold and commercial, infusing it with warmth and expressive depth. The fusion of her background in advertising, design, and diverse media fuels her ability to breathe life into this luminous art form.
In 2018, Charlotte de Belle established "Vertical Design DXB," a studio that stands as Dubai's premier hub dedicated to the art of neon. Beyond fostering artistic excellence, Vertical Design DXB produces bespoke neon pieces, ensuring that this captivating art form is not only celebrated but also respected.
